Background information & Investigation
notes
During the
research for this investigation, it was discovered through 2 old
Walker County Messenger newspaper articles (October 20, 1881 and
1915) as well as documentation in the Book “History Of Walker
County Georgia” Ch. 10, pgs 51-54, that the location of the
Historical Site marker is not in the correct location. The
current marker is located just east of the Big Spring on W.
Indiana St. The articles state the location to be: “on the hill
just west of the Big Spring where the city of Lafayette, GA gets
it’s water supply”, as stated to Mrs. Francis Park Stiles by a
local citizen who remembered “seeing the fort when it was about
half rotted down”. This location description in the 1915 Walker
County Messenger newspaper would place the Fort approx. 800 –
1000 ft NNW of the current placement of the sign (see attached
map). The Historical Site Registry states the original marker,
placed in 1916, was placed at the corner of W. Indiana St. and
Probasco St. N.

In
spite of the research, investigators investigated the scheduled
location as planned. Upon completion, they proceeded to the

much local noise, traffic and other disturbances.
Upon arrival at 9:00 p.m. The investigator’s to take photo’s
in several location’s, while at the same time using a K-II EMF
meter to check for fluctuation’s in the electro magnetic field.
The photo session ended at 9:30 p.m. , with no noticeable
activity. At 9:40 p.m. an EVP (electronic voice phenomena) was
conducted and the investigation was finished off with another
photo session. There were no personal experiences.
There were no fluctuations in the electro magnetic fields. There
were no EVP’s captured. There were no anomalous photos.
